Young entrepreuners

Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Duncan McNeil has congratulated the area's top young entrepreneur at the regional finals of the 2010 Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ Awards.

Gillian Parker, 23, founder of Sew Vintage in Gourock edged out Paul Couper, of Paul Couper Joinery at a special awards ceremony at the British Polythene Industries’ offices in Inverclyde.

Duncan McNeil, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, said: "Both finalists had started up very different businesses but it was clear they shared a sense of positivity, a professional pride and a healthy ambition to succeed.

"This area needs that entrepreunial spirit and I hope that Gillian and Paul set an example to others of what can be achieved with the right kind of support."

PSYBT regional manager, Edith Baird said, “Our regional finalists have demonstrated ambition, courage and determination to set up and develop their own businesses.  Youth enterprise is something to be recognised and applauded and we wish them all the best for the national final.”
