Response to cuts in the Fairer Scotland Fund:

Duncan McNeil, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, said:

“There has been no final decision on these matters but I have been expressing concern about this situation for some time.

“A decreasing budget and the stringent criteria introduced by the government and COSLA for applications have made this inevitable.

“But I don’t believe the issues we face in this area with its disproportionate level of poverty and a declining population can be properly tackled with these restrictions.”
