Inverclyde a priority for new grant
Community groups across Inverclyde have been made a priority for a cash windfall.
A new grant called the Community Chest has been launched by the Voluntary Action Fund aimed at small groups with revenue income under £25,000.
They will be given the chance to apply for grants of up to £1,000 for running costs, special events or equipment they can’t afford.
Applications across Scotland will be considered from next month but Inverclyde is one of three areas to be given priority.
The VAF will also be holding to workshops on charity law to help groups.
The announcement was welcomed by Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Duncan McNeil, who is now writing to local groups to make them aware of this opportunity.
He said: “This is good news, not only that this grant is available, but that our area has been given priority.
“It is a much-needed boost to small groups across this area that do some wonderful work but have limited funds
“I would urge people to make a bid for these grants – the money has been set aside for this area and I am sure there are lots of creative ways we can put it to good use.”
