Report to the People
22nd January 2007
Let
Them Hear Your Voice
If you haven’t done so
already, you have until 5pm next Friday to respond to NHS Greater Glasgow and
Clyde’s consultation on its proposals for retaining services at Inverclyde
Royal Hospital.
Just as it was important for
us to leave the old Argyll and Clyde board in no doubt that we wouldn’t accept
its half-baked plans to condemn the IRH to a death of a thousand cuts, so it is
vital that we let the new Greater Glasgow and Clyde board know that we firmly
back its plans to secure our health services here in Inverclyde.
Specifically, it is important
that the board knows that we want it to press ahead with its proposals to
maintain Accident and Emergency, the vast bulk of inpatient services and
virtually all outpatient and day services at the IRH.
My own submission also
reiterates my views on the importance of access to medical services and welcomes
the fact that these proposals will protect tens of thousands of us from being
moved out of the IRH and up to Paisley’s RAH.
Indeed, far from more people being forced out of Inverclyde, the changes
proposed will actually see more patients who currently attend the Golden Jubilee
in Clydebank for certain procedures, such as orthopaedic surgery and cataract
operations, being treated locally.
Submissions can be made up until 2nd February by writing to: John Hamilton, Head of Board Administration, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Dalian House, 350 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G3 8YZ or e-mailing: southclyde@ggc.scot.nhs.uk
