Lottery cashpot for Greenock
Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Duncan McNeil has welcomed a lottery boost that could bring at least £1 million to good causes in the area.
The Big Lottery announced this week it is to spend £9 million on five targeted areas that traditionallly have't attracted the funding it erquires.
And the MSP was delighted when he learned that Greenock Central and East were selected as one of the targeted areas.
He said: "Historically, this area has not been able to attract as much funds as it should despite the disproportionate need.
“Often those who know the system best or know how to articulate their bid better can win funding over possibly more deserving causes.
"Now this has been turned on its head and we have a pot here of at least £1 million that has been set aside just for this area of Greenock.
"We don't have to bid against other areas for cash, we just have to come up with some strong ideas as a community on how best to make the most of this invetsment."
