Danger road to be looked at
Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Duncan McNeil is delighted that Transport Scotland has indicated a change of heart over the A78 in Inverkip.
On behalf of a number of concerned residents, the MSP had written to road bosses over a series of accidents at the junctions on the road.
And he expressed dismay when Transport Scotland insisted the accident rate didn't meet their criteria for further action.
So Mr McNeil was pleased that sustained pressure has paid off and Transport Scotland has agreed to carry out a three-month survey on the road.
He said: “This goes to show how important it is to keep up the pressure on these agencies and I am pleased this has paid off.
“As recently as last month Transport Scotland was insisting that the traffic problems in Inverkip didn’t merit further investigation so this is a welcome u-turn.
“I am glad that the new head of Transport Scotland has seen sense and listened to the concerns of the people in the village. The next stage is action.”
