CASH BOOST FOR SPORT’S CLUB

Local MSP Duncan McNeil has welcomed a £9,000 cash injection for Inverclyde Athletics Club.

The money will be invested over three years to employ a part-time club officer to develop key areas of the club and drive up membership.

The money was allocated as part of the Scottish Government’s plans to boost community sport in the build-up the Commonwealth Games.

The government has announced £10 million of funding in total for clubs across the country. It follows recommendations made by the Scottish Parliament’s Sports Committee, which is headed by Duncan McNeil, to strengthen community sport.

Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Duncan McNeil said:

“I welcome this announcement by the Scottish Government which is good news for Inverclyde Athletics Club. I am pleased they have listened to the recommendations made by the committee to develop and strengthen community sport in Scotland.”
