LOCAL MSP BACKS UK CONSULTATION ON RARE DISEASES

Duncan McNeil MSP has backed a parliamentary motion welcoming the consultation on a UK plan for rare diseases.

The motion urges the Scottish Government to publicise the consultation so that the people of Scotland can have their say.

Developed by the four nations of the UK the plan aims to strengthen the services available to those who suffer from rare diseases.

The news comes on the back of the Health Committee’s decision to consider a petition calling for people who suffer from Paroxysman Nocturnal Hemoglaploghinuria (PNH) to be given better access to treatment.

The Committee which is headed by Duncan McNeil MSP will hear from the petitioners next week.
