Meeting with IRH Unions Helps Map Out Next Steps
MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, has again met with health service unions at Inverclyde Royal Hospital to discuss the next phase of the campaign against Argyll and Clyde Health Board’s discredited Clinical Strategy.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr McNeil said:

“The efforts of trade unions, medical professionals, elected representatives and the community at large have had some success in knocking down the Board’s plans.  I don’t think anyone now seriously believes that the strategy as currently drafted is the way forward for our health services.

“But knocking down these flawed plans is only the first step.  The next challenge is to build up our own arguments and make the case for the sort of health service we want to see.

“I am sure that the unions will play an important role in this – just as they did in exposing the damage which centralising services at Paisley would inflict on our community.”
