McNeil Comments on Paediatric Staffing Levels
Commenting on reports regarding the effect of the forthcoming clinical staff changeover on staffing levels at Inverclyde Royal Hospital’s Paediatric Department, MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, today said:

“It is, of course, no secret that, with the introduction of measures such as the agreement on junior doctors hours, the NHS in Scotland needs to recruit more medical staff.  Argyll and Clyde is no different.  Neither is it a secret that I have raised questions over the way the NHS trains clinicians.

“I am in regular contact with the Health Board on this matter and they assure me that all the stops are being pulling out to fill vacant posts.  I will be speaking to the management again shortly and will be asking for an update on the progress which is being made.”
