McNeil Comments on Health
Board's Finances
Speaking following remarks by the Health Minister regarding the financial
situation of Argyll and Clyde Health Board, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde,
Duncan McNeil, said:
"First of all, along
with the Minister, I am concerned about the welfare and treatment of patients.
"But,
if we are to continue to plough record investment into the NHS, Boards cannot
continue to mismanage and lose it.
"The
sacking of their predecessors should leave the current Board in no doubt that
financial mismanagement will not be tolerated.
Indeed, under questioning from me at the Parliament’s Health Committee
yesterday, the Minister refused rule out scrapping Argyll and Clyde Health
Board."
