West
Station Bridge Inquiry Set to Get Moving
The
Public Local Inquiry into the hold-up on work to replace Greenock’s West
Station Bridge is set to begin next week as scheduled.
MSP
for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, today confirmed that he had been
advised by Scottish Executive officials that the parties had been unable to
reach agreement and have refused to withdraw their objections.
Speaking
today, he said:
“It
is, of course, disappointing that the parties have been unable to reach an
agreement and that the landowners still feel the need to obstruct this much
needed and long overdue work.
“Unless
an 11th hour deal is reached, the dispute will go to the Inquiry
stage at the beginning of next week – where I hope this whole frustrating
episode will finally be resolved once and for all.”
