McNeil "Honoured" at Inclusion in English Anthology
GCSE English and English Literature students have another name to add to their 2003 reading list. Joining the likes of John Betjeman, W.H. Auden, Seamus Heaney, Maya Angelou and Philip Larkin is MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil.

An article written by Mr McNeil on school sports, originally published in the Greenock Telegraph on 8th October 2001, has been included in the EdExcel Anthology for GCSE English alongside some of the best known names in literature.

Commenting, Mr McNeil said:

"When I was first contacted by the publishers, I thought they wanted to give the article to students to correct.

"It is of course a great honour, but also strange to think that students south of the border will be reading about my experiences of growing up in Greenock. I just hope they don’t end up feeling the same way about me as I felt towards some of those I was forced to read in school."
