Royal
College Agrees to Extend IRH Children’s Ward Accreditation
The Royal College of Paediatrics has
agreed to extended the current accreditation for the paediatric ward at
Inverclyde Royal Hospital, it has been revealed.
Speaking after his meeting
yesterday with Dr Adrian Margerison, Officer for Scotland of the Royal College
of Paediatrics & Child Health, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan
McNeil, said:
“The Royal College of
Paediatrics indicated earlier in the year that the current rota for doctors in
training at the acute paediatric service at the IRH did not fulfil the
educational requirements of the college because of the low activity associated
with the ambulatory service.
“I am pleased that NHS
Argyll & Clyde has confirmed to me that the Royal College has now extended
the current accreditation for this service.
“At its meeting on 8th
August, Argyll & Clyde NHS Board will discuss proposals for the future of
the service. I have, however, been
given assurances that staff and staff-side representatives will be fully
involved in any future redesign of this service.”
