McNeil "Relieved" at
IBM Announcement, but Seeks Reassurances
Speaking today after meeting with
management at the IBM plant in Greenock, MSP for Greenock &
Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, said:
"There will be immense relief that all the terrible speculation of the past few days is now at an end; relief that there will be no redundancies; and relief that we can keep these jobs in Inverclyde and Scotland.
"That being said, a great deal of reassurance will be demanded by those who are to be transferred to Sanmina-SCI. I will therefore be seeking to meet with Sanmina to discuss both their new workforces future prospects.
"I will also take the opportunity to
discuss whether Sanmina may be able to employ any of the 500
Fullartons staff who were made redundant yesterday."
