Meeting with Enterprise
Minister "Positive and Productive" McNeil
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde,
Duncan McNeil, has described his meeting with Enterprise
Minister, Iain Gray, as "positive and productive."
Speaking after the meeting, which took place in Edinburgh this evening and focussed on the support which is being given to staff made redundant by Fullartons earlier in the week, Mr McNeil said:
"The meeting was positive and productive. At the outset, the Minister confirmed that practical help is being made available now. A Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) team, led by co-ordinator, Gordon McGuiness, has already gone in and has hit the ground running.
"They attended todays ISTC mass meeting and signed up a good number of former workers to receive their services. To maximise the number of former staff they can help, they also intend running contact events, which will be well publicised through the Telegraph.
"The team is also in talks with the employers and the college and is working closlely with the Benefits Agency, the ISTC, the Council and the college. I was also pleased to learn, also intends to set up a "one stop shop" to guide redundant workers to the services which are right for them.
"This is a very positive development
in what remains a difficult situation."
