Comments on Sanmina Redundancies
Commenting
on today’s announcement by Sanmina-SCI of voluntary redundancies at its
Greenock plant, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, said:
“This
is deeply disappointing news. It’s
not going to be a very merry Christmas for those involved.
“I
will be asking questions in Parliament, not only about the support which will be
given to the workers affected by today’s announcement, but about how we are
going to reform our economy and break the cycle of constantly lifting and laying
workers. And I will make
representations to Enterprise Minister, Jim Wallace, renewing my calls for the
necessary steps – from better transport links to real partnership working –
to be taken in areas like Greenock.”
