McNeil
Hopes for Swift Resolution to Pay Dispute
Commenting
on the ongoing industrial action being taken by some local authority nursery
nurses, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, today said:
“I
was pleased to have a very constructive meeting with a number of the local
nursery nurses who came to make representations to the Parliament today.
“I
agree that the sooner this dispute is settled, the better for all concerned –
the nursery nurses, hardworking parents and the local authorities.
I understand that CoSLA has now contacted the last few local authorities
which are not in negotiations with the employees’ representatives and that
Inverclyde Council is now making an approach to the trade unions.
I sincerely hope that this move bears fruit – the fact that agreement
has been reached elsewhere in the country suggests it can.”
