McNeil Takes College Case to Arab Ambassadors
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, has met with the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Edinburgh to promote James Watt College as the ideal place for their countries' students to study.
Mr McNeil presented the Ambassadors of no less than 13 Arab states with material highlighting the advantages of James Watt College, including a promotional video in Arabic.
His Excellency Ambassador Sheikh Abdul Al-Khalifa, the Bahraini Ambassador to the UK, confirmed to Mr McNeil that more students from his country would be joining their 42 compatriots already studying at the College.
Mr McNeil said:
"The fact that students from the Middle East are coming half way across the globe to study at James Watt College is a source of great pride for me and our community.
"In addition to enriching our culture, this endorsement of James Watt College boosts our standing abroad.
"I am therefore delighted that the Ambassador has confirmed that we will be welcoming more Bahraini students to Greenock this year."
James Watt College has first class facilities for accommodating overseas students, including accommodation blocks which meet religious requirements and a friendly, supportive environment to help the young people adapt to life in Scotland.
This has led to the College welcoming 95 students from the Middle East this year alone. There are also about 30 former James Watt students with HNCs and HNDs currently studying at universities around Scotland.
