McNeil Voted on to Corporate
Body
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde,
Duncan McNeil, has been voted on to the Scottish Parliament
Corporate Body (SPCB) by fellow MSPs.
The powerful body, on which all main political parties are represented, is responsible for ensuring that the Parliament is provided with the property, staff and services it requires. It considers and makes decisions on a wide range of issues to do with the running of the Parliament including the financing of the Parliament and allocation of the budget, the staffing of the Parliament, accommodation and the use and security of Parliamentary facilities.
Speaking after his appointment, which took place in the Scottish Parliament today, Mr McNeil said:
"I am honoured to be selected by my colleagues to serve on the Corporate Body. After two years in the whips office, I have a keen interest in making the Parliament work on a day-to-day basis.
"The Corporate Body gives us the foundations on which we can build changes like modernising the transport system, driving up standards in schools and improving patient care."
Mr McNeil, who is Labours Deputy
Business Manager, is replacing MSP for Clydebank and Milngavie,
Des McNulty.
