Holyrood Open for Business
The Scottish Parliament was open late
for business earlier this month, when MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan
McNeil, welcomed members of the Greenock Chamber of Commerce for an evening at
Holyrood.
After
a presentation and question & answer session with a senior parliament
procurement official on how the Scottish Parliament does business,
representatives of the local business community were given a behind-the-scenes
tour of the new Scottish Parliament building by Mr McNeil.
The evening was rounded off with dinner in the Members’ Restaurant.
“I
was delighted to welcome the local chamber to the parliament,” Mr McNeil said
afterwards, “I hope they found it
an informative and productive evening – and that it was enjoyable too.
“The
business and political worlds shouldn’t be strangers. The actions in one sphere impact in the other, so it is
important that, through events like this, we develop a good understanding of
each other’s perspectives.”
Chamber of Commerce Executive
Administrator, Hugh Bunten, added:
“It was a splendid
afternoon and evening at The Scottish Parliament.
It’s an awesome building. The food was splendid, the presentation by Veronique
was first class and the tour was really appreciated and enjoyed by all of us.
It really was a great event. Everybody
commented very favourably and had a wonderful time.”
