Spare
a Thought for Those who Make our Christmas – McNeil
MSP
for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, is urging his constituents, as they
sit down to tuck into their Christmas turkey, to remember all those whose hard
work is so vital to a successful festive season.
Speaking
as he visited Knowe Road Sorting Office this morning to thank Royal Mail workers
for their efforts over the past weeks and months, Mr McNeil said:
“Royal
Mail staff – from postmen and women, to sorting office staff, to van drivers
–play a crucial part in making Christmas what it is.
It would be a pretty joyless time if we couldn’t receive cards from
loved ones or send presents to far-flung relatives.
“And,
despite the fact that they will shortly be delivering our January credit card
bills, they nevertheless deserve our heart-felt thanks.
“We
should also spare a thought for the countless shop workers who are also
run off their feet in the weeks leading up to Christmas and for those who will
be working while we relax – the bar and restaurant staff, the emergency
services and, of course, our servicemen and women stationed abroad.”
