IRH Downgrade – Call for Urgent Probe into Economic Impact
The impact on the Inverclyde economy of implementing NHS Argyll and Clyde’s Clinical Strategy must be investigated without delay, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, has said.

Mr McNeil has made representations to Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire, calling on them to carry out the probe “as a matter of urgency.”

Speaking today, Mr McNeil said:

“Much attention, quite rightly, has focussed on the impact on patient care.  But we have to remember that the IRH is a large employer and any downgrading could have a severe impact on local jobs and, hence, the local economy.

“I have therefore made representations to the Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire, asking that they urgently carry out an assessment of the economic impact of implementing the Health Board’s proposals.”
