Another £13,757 for Local Community Groups
MSP Duncan McNeil has congratulated the five latest community groups in his Greenock & Inverclyde constituency to benefit from Lottery cash.

The groups, from the Gourock Park Playgroup to the Old West Kirk Indoor Bowling Club, all successfully bid for Community Awards from the Community Fund, Sports Awards from SportScotland, Arts Awards from the Scottish Arts Council, or Health, Education and Environment Awards from the New Opportunities Fund.

Welcoming the news, which follows the announcement in April of nearly £29,000 for local organisations, Mr McNeil said:

"These groups are to be congratulated on their successful bids.

"These organisations, in their own ways, are all important to our community. Whether keeping older people active, or helping give children and young people a good start in life, they all do vital jobs.

"They are also famous for making a relatively little amount of money go a long way. I am therefore sure that these grants will be put to good use in helping this work to continue."

The full list of successful applicants is:

Sports Awards from SportScotland
Old West Kirk Indoor Bowling Club £2,040
Ardgowan Football Club £3,900

Inverclyde Voluntary Association of Community Halls £4,117
