McNeil Welcomes Parliament to Greenock
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, is preparing to welcome the Scottish Parliament to Greenock.
In the first ever meeting of its kind, the Enterprise & Lifelong Learning Committee will hold a formal session of its inquiry into the New Economy at the towns IBM plant.
Commenting on the meeting, Mr McNeil, who suggested the plan whilst a member of the Committee, said:
"Where better to hold a discussion on the impact of the new economy, than Greenock? This is a town which symbolises regeneration through technology. Traditional industry has declined, but new industries have enabled us to begin our regeneration.
"Every day technology is bringing politicians closer to the people they serve. Moving parliamentary committees from Edinburgh, into workplaces and communities, is another welcome step towards making it easier for us all to get involved in the decisions which affect our lives."
